-
Internship program at broadcasting stations.
- An
annual competition for Scholarship money
.
The Young American Broadcasters Program is dedicated to reaching an ethnically diverse college population and encouraging them in regard to radio and Internet broadcasting in two ways. First, farm clubs for rising radio stars no longer exist. And, unfortunately, in this time of corporate consolidation in the media and Internet, there is no outreach for college students interested in pursuing a career in talk radio and Internet broadcasting.
Each spring, YAB conducts a competition for talented college students who are working towards a career in talk radio and Internet broadcasting. The winners receive money for college. The presentation takes place at the National Talkers Convention in New York City in June.
Secondly, YAB works to convey the importance of talk radio and Internet broadcasting to college campus activists. YAB emphasizes the benefits of using talk radio and Internet broadcasting to promote a cause, raise an issue, or communicate an idea.
