SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION
The Young American Broadcasters is accepting scholarship applications from college juniors with career goals in print, radio or broadcast journalism. The program is designed to cultivate America’s next generation of ethical broadcast journalists and focus on the importance of the First Amendment.
Awards: Up to five non-renewable scholarships will be awarded annually to applicants in their sophomore or junior year to assist them with their next year of study. Applicants must have a 2.5 GPA.
Applications will be reviewed by the Board of Directors of the Young America Broadcasters. In addition to the application (download an application in Microsoft Word format here), students must submit:
Withdrawal policy: If a scholarship recipient withdraws from school or fails to maintain full-time status, the school must inform the Young American Broadcasters and the scholarship will be revoked and all money must be returned to the Young American Broadcasters. If the student is forced to withdraw for financial reasons the Young American Broadcasters has the option to hold the scholarship money and reinstate upon the re-enrollment of the student.
Deadline: Application must be received by March 5, 2009 to be considered for the fall 2009 / spring 2010 Academic Year. All requested materials must be submitted with completed application.
Incomplete applications will not be reviewed. Please be sure you have completed and signed the application and included all requested materials.
Notification: Recipients will be notified no later than April 30, 2009 and will be acknowledged at the Talkers Magazine New Media Seminar in June 2009.
